The internet has grown rapidly in the past few years and has even been declared a basic human right to have access to the internet. It has been called the "information superhighway" because it was supposed to provide the average person with fast access to a practically limitless amount of data. Unfortunately, it's as if the information superhighway has some roadblocks in the form of Internet censorship. The motivations for censorship range from well-intentioned desires to protect children from unsuitable content to attempts to control a nation's access to information. No matter what the censors' reasons are, the end result is the same: They block access to the Web pages they identify as unwanted or undesirable in their eyes. It’s not just the government or parents that can use internet censorship. There are many software products available on the market that can limit access or block sites. These are often known as web filters, but censorship opponents have another name for them: Censorware.
In this project I will explain the positive and negative aspects of censorship, even though the majority of them are negative. It was very recent that censorship on this scale was introduced, therefore it's important that people understand what censorship is and how it affects everyone
